Calgary Freeriderz Jillian Mullie, 18, is making her mark in freestyle skiing and pushing the limits on her development.
The 2024-25 competitive season is already shaping up to be her best yet—at the Sun Peaks Canada Cup, Jillian claimed a gold medal in Big Air and a silver in Slopestyle, setting a new personal best. It’s a huge step forward after last season’s breakthrough at the same event, where she qualified first and finished fourth overall. With momentum on her side, Jillian is looking ahead to more competitions and another big goal: landing four-way corks on snow.
Unlike many athletes, Jillian prefers to ski without music, finding she’s more grounded and in the zone when she embraces the present moment. Skiing is her sole athletic focus, but she’s also balancing the demands of university, taking three courses per semester to allow time for training while navigating midterms and finals around her competition schedule.
For Jillian, freeskiing isn’t just about results, it’s about progress and having fun. She’s determined to go as far as she can in the sport with the time she has, but no matter where competition takes her, skiing will always be a lifelong priority. Whether it’s chasing podiums or simply turns on a powder day, Jillian’s love for the sport is here to stay.
