CALGARY — Freestyle Alberta has named 25 athletes to its provincial moguls and park and pipe teams for the 2025–26 competition season.
The provincial mogul team, consisting of eight athletes and one coach, operates as a year-round, camp-based program semi-centralized in Red Deer. Athletes receive support in areas including performance planning, training-year design, alignment with national programs, CSI Calgary services, and coach development. These skiers are in the Learn to Compete and Train to Compete stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. Selection is based on RPA rankings as outlined in Freestyle Alberta’s team criteria.
Seventeen skiers have been selected to the provincial park and pipe team, which includes slopestyle and halfpipe athletes from across Alberta. Working with the Calgary Freeriderz and RT Freeski clubs and coaches, athletes follow individualized, year-round training plans designed to support progression toward the NextGen national team. These high-performance athletes are also in the Learn to Compete and Train to Compete stages of LTAD, with long-term ambitions of representing Canada as members of Freestyle Canada’s national team.
“The calibre of our Alberta Provincial Team is incredibly high — it’s one of the best displays of talent and grit from all the clubs our athletes come from,” said Jeremy Cooper, Freestyle Alberta Sport Director. “These skiers represent the pinnacle of the sport within our province, pushing hard to reach the national team level in their respective disciplines.”
Cooper expanded on his excitement for the provincial teams. “Alberta is fortunate to have exceptional coaches, world-class training environments and strong competition venues that give our athletes the tools they need to excel in freestyle skiing. We’re both proud and grateful to support such a driven and inspiring group of young athletes.”
The season kicks off with the 2026 Alberta Winter Games Qualifier at Canyon on December 19-21, followed by the 2026 FIS Snow Rodeo Halfpipe World Cup event at Winsport from December 27th to January 4th.
