FREESTYLE ALBERTA DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT

Calling all ski coaches, judges, officials and volunteers! It’s that time of the year again when we gather to enhance our skills and grow within freestyle skiing. We are excited to invite you to our annual professional development symposium.

Why Attend?

The summit is a golden opportunity for our ski community to expand their knowledge, network with peers, and stay up-to-date with the industry. Here’s what you can expect:

Coaches: Learn from sport experts in the field, who will share their valuable insights and experiences to help you excel in your role. Attending these workshops will also help you network as a coach, define the coaching pathway, and learn about available resources in a clear and concise manner. This is the best opportunity we have each year to offer affordable, ski-specific training to our coaches under one roof. (Full day with lunch)

Judges (new/experienced): Use this opportunity to learn how to evaluate the Freestyle disciplines of Slopestyle, Moguls and Halfpipe. This is a fun, inclusive, and resourceful workshop aimed at educating our members and providing active judges who will take part in supporting the growth of Freestyle Skiing. We encourage interested parents and retired athletes to attend. With a continued shortage of active judges, we are hoping each club can add 3-4 new judges to join the regional judging ranks. Note that new judges are mentored by experience judges at club and provincial events. (Full day with lunch)

Officials and Volunteers: Join our workshop and round table discussions to learn the ins and outs of running club and provincial events in Alberta. Our afternoon workshop cover the scheduling of events in Alberta, event planning, volunteer and leadership roles. An open-format presentation will allow for discussions and answers to questions. (Half day)
