The SendSisterz Try Freestyle event at Canyon Ski Resort on December 21, 2024, was an absolute blast! Organized by Girlstylerz athlete ambassador Maddilyn Phillips, this all-girls freestyle day was packed with progression, new friendships, and non-stop fun.
With an all-star lineup of national Olympic athletes and local female freestyle rippers, 22 girls skied, jumped, and laughed their way through an unforgettable day. Huge shoutout to our amazing coaches: Elena Gaskel, Megan Cressy, Sidney Sikora, Mya Smith, Cienna Hallman, and Harper Turnbull, who brought the stoke and helped everyone push their limits!
The day kicked off with a screening of Counting to Three by Megan Oldham, getting everyone hyped to step out of their comfort zones. From there, it was full send: sessioning the terrain park, ripping through the mogul course, dialing in new skills, and carving up the mountain with Santa himself! (Yes, the Big Guy can ski!)
The best part? More than half of the girls were from Red Deer and brand new to freestyle—proving that this sport is all about inclusivity, confidence, and finding your crew on the slopes. The energy was electric, and by the end of the day, the stoke levels were through the roof!
