Coaching Announcement – Rob Kober appointed AB High Performance Provincial Mogul Coach

June 1, 2018

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I take great pride in announcing the appointment of Rob Kober to Head Coach- Mogul Team/ Director of Sport Development for Freestyle Alberta.
This is in alignment with Freestyle Alberta’s strategic plan in providing world class sport leadership to all our members in the province.   We believe this is an important step in becoming a leader in the nation for sport development.  With the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer; it is uniquely rewarding to welcome a Red Deer native back to Alberta.
As former men’s national mogul team head coach Rob Kober has been at the helm of the most dominant team in freestyle history for the last 15 years. Rob’s passion for skiing began in his early teenage years after he stopped playing competitive hockey. What began as a recreational pastime quickly became his greatest passion.
He didn’t start freestyle skiing until he was 13 and spent the first couple of year just having fun with his friends. By year three, he was competing and getting results. Rob’s career as an athlete may have been cut short due to injury, but he had the opportunity to compete in one World Cup in 1988 before he retired.
Since making the transition from athlete to coach, Rob has been highly influential to the success that the men’s moguls team has had over the past several years.
We expect that Rob’s expertise will continue to prepare our Alberta athletes and coaches for the next step in their Freestyle careers.
